Meet Bay Area makers and artists featured in The Making Of... a community collaboration by The Kitchen Sisters and KQED, on Thursday and Friday, May 30 and 31. The Making Of... is funded, in part, by a major grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and AIR, the Association of Independents in Radio.

Please join KQED at CityCamp Palo Alto for a sneak peak preview of the PBS film, Extreme by Design, which airs nationally on PBS in 2013. The film follows a band of college students who design and build products to solve seemingly intractable problems for the world's poor. This hour-long documentary film begins on the first day of a Stanford University course called Entrepreneurial Design for Extreme Affordability and ends a year later after one group of students returns to Asia to test their device in the field amid plans to launch a startup.

At 9am, KQED Public Radio's popular arts roundup The Do List with Cy Musiker and the San Francisco Chronicle's David Wiegand will be part of the 24-hour live art variety show with a discussion of some of the bigger summer events. View Christian Marclay's 24-hour masterpiece, The Clock. Party on the rooftop. Bring the kids to Time to Move Family Day. In collaboration with KQED, the 24-hour live art marathon will be live-streamed at sfmoma.org/marathon and KQED.org. Join KQED at the Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose for the new immersive exhibit Curious George™ Let's Get Curious. Based on the familiar characters in H.A. and Margret Rey's classic stories, published by Houghton Mifflin, the new exhibit inspires young children's natural curiosity as they explore early science, math and engineering through hands-on interactive play. Open Tuesday through Saturday 10am-5pm and Sundays 12-5pm. Open on Mondays from 10am-5pm beginning May 27.

Love Free or Die is about a man whose two defining passions much of the world cannot reconcile: his love for God and for his partner Mark. It is about church and state, love and marriage, faith and identity -- and one man's struggle to dispel the notion that God's love has limits. Gene Robinson was the first openly gay person to be elected bishop in the high church traditions of Christendom. Bishop Robinson's elevation in the sleepy New Hampshire diocese in 2003 ignited a worldwide firestorm in the Anglican Communion, one that has become so heated that there is still a chance of a schism. Stroll a colorful cottage garden, while more than 20 species of colorful North American butterflies flit from flower to flower, demonstrating plant pollination in action. Visitors can also observe the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly, and might even witness the very moment one of these winged beauties emerges! On view through October 20. Join KQED Arts and di Rosa Art & Nature in Napa, CA for a lecture by artist Ala Ebtekar, featured on KQED's Spark program. Through his work, he explores cross-cultural contrasts and similarities. He has described his work as 'a visual glimpse of a crossroad where present day events meet history and mythology.' The lecture is open to the public and will take place from 7-8pm, followed by a wine and cheese reception. A workshop for educators related to Ala Ebtekar's work will also take place from 5:30-6:30 at di Rosa in advance of the lecture.
