This exhibit includes Ruth Asawa's crochet wire sculptures and works on paper. For more than forty years, Asawa has pushed her materials (like paper, wire, clay, concrete, fiber, steel, and bronze) in directions that challenged not only their physical attributes but also their traditional dimensional placement on pedestal, wall, and floor -- ultimately hanging or suspending the works to activate the spaces surrounding them.
