NerdNite East Bay: Obamacare in California

NerdniteOn January 1, 2014 the Affordable Care Act went into full effect. What does that mean to you? Join Lisa Aliferis, a health editor at KQED News who produced the station's popular 'Obamacare Explained: A Guide for Californians.' She will give you an overview of how the Affordable Care Act works and who it was designed to help. Preliminary numbers show that nearly 500,000 Californians have enrolled in a new plan. Are you one of them? Do you want to be? Do you hate the law? Aliferis has been covering all aspects of the rollout. Other talks that evening include: 'Data Science!?: I'm (Statistically) A Dead, Christian, Chinese Dude' by Bradley Voytek and 'Earth to Universe: Is Anyone Alive Out There?' by Benjamin Burress. Doors open at 7pm, program begins at 8pm.
