Boomtown: Barbary Coast at the Conservatory of Flowers
Land ho -- get ready to jump ship into San Francisco's rowdy past, as the Conservatory presents its annual garden railway show, this year saluting the Barbary Coast! Enjoy a dazzling display with hundreds of dwarf plants and entertaining water features, as model trains wind along miniature docks with replicas of the clipper ships that brought fortune seekers to California. Encounter a life-sized schooner, take a souvenir 'mug shot' and let memorabilia and activities tell the colorful chapter of the city's history after the 1848 discovery of gold. The Conservatory of Flowers is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10am to 4pm. Kids ages four and under get in free! For more information, call (415) 831-2090 or visit conservatoryofflowers.org.
