Locaphonic is a food and music event inspired by the “locavore” movement. Composer Amy X Neuburg and the vocal ensemble Solstice will perform Neuburg's original song cycle, inspired by Jewish recipes collected and preserved by women imprisoned in Terezin concentration camp. Sung in Czech, German, and English, the music uses eight women's voices and electronic looping techniques to create a multi-layered, multi-language chorus. Included in the evening will be an imaginative meal of Jewish California tapas, inspired by the recipes and prepared with organic, locally grown ingredients.
