Community Cinema and Stanford Society of Women Engineers present a film screening of Solar Mamas. The film highlights Barefoot College in India, where a female student becomes her country's first solar engineer. Beyond the thematic concepts of women's empowerment, development, and practical environmentalism, the film provides a moving portrait of a woman caught between expectations imposed on her by Jordanian society and her dreams to travel, to be independent, to make a living for her family. Following the film will be a tour of the Stanford Engineering Department and workshops.
